MY FAVORITE ONLINE FABRIC SOURCES!

Picking out fabrics is one of my favorite parts of the job. For me, it’s a great starting point for the design of a room. It’s a great place to get color inspiration. A good fabric in a room is so much more than something pretty to look at. In some cases, the fabric is almost like a mini work of art that is a focal point for the room. In other cases, the fabric helps showcase what design style/vibe you are going for. I know that you can buy pillows and window treatments that are ready-made, but if you have the budget I highly suggest going custom. I have never had one client regret going custom. They love those window treatments and pillows till this very day. It makes their homes unique and special and is that perfect finishing touch for a room.

Now, if you work with me one of my first steps is showing you an array of fabrics and seeing what you gravitate towards. Did you like the pattern filled ones or texture? Did you, oh and ah over an animal print or did you immediately toss it to the side? Does the idea of adding a contrasting color for piping on pillow excite you or push you over the edge. It’s really helpful especially for clients that really have no jumping off for what they want the design/vibe of their room to look like. When you work with a designer they will bring to the table mostly to the trade fabrics, because that is what our fabric libraries have. Of course, I also have some favorite online fabric sources for projects where I’m on a tighter budget or deadline. I have gotten so many questions lately via instagram about what my favorite sources are that it only seemed fitting to make a blog post and share it all.

MY FAVORITE ONLINE FABRIC SOURCES:

HOUSE FABRIC. One of my go-to stops for the longest time. They have a good mix of fabrics and they separate it by colors, patterns of vendors. It’s super easy to navigate this site. Many of their fabrics are also to the trade fabric, but the more affordable options.

BUY FABRICS: Ok, so the site can be a bit overwhelming because there is a good amount of dark browns, heavy embroidery, gold aka a bit traditional and old fashioned fabrics you can also find lots of fun patterns from PF. Kaufmann in the $10-$15 a range. So, it’s worth a look if you are a tight budget.

FABRIC GURU: My favorite online store to shop for crazy deals! I actually like being part of their newsletter, because I always know when a crazy sale is happening! I have gotten $1, $3 and $5 a yard deals and have also gotten great deals when buying remnant yardage. They also do a lot of 25%, 50% and 75% sales as well.

1502 FABRICS: Has a great array of fabrics in the $15-$30 a yard range. Lots of fun patterns and colors! Just do a little digging! They also have a remnant section where you can get crazy scores. It’s hit and miss. You just need to be on the lookout.

ONLINE FABRIC STORE: I head here when I’m looking for burlap, window drapery lining, and foam for upholstery, but they have a ton of fabric as well.

ROBERT ALLEN OUTLET: I’m not sure if many people know about this, but this outlet is open to everyone, not just trade only. There is a lot on it so, it takes a good amount of digging, but I have found some gems here.

JOANN: This isn’t just a source for craft fabric. They have a good amount of home decor fabric and when you can find a coupon code for 20%-40% for a cutting of fabric you can get a good deal.

CALICO CORNERS: Has really pretty fabrics and they do a good job of pairing fabrics that go together nicely. When they are having a sale it’s totally worth it to shop here. I have found them to have cheaper prices on Robert Allen than to the trade pricing.

LEWIS AND SHERON FABRICS: A good mix of solids and patterns at an affordable price point. I have used them quite a bit.

TONIC LIVING: A curated mix of chic fabric finds that give off a Studio McGee vibe!

I’m not a huge fan of finding fabric on Etsy and Spoonflower. I find it super overwhelming. So many options. When I do stumble upon some fabrics from there I pin them on my Pinterest board for fabric! Make sure you are following there as well for more of my favorites!

Hopefully, that’s a good jumping-off point for your fabric searches! When in doubt get help. It can be very overwhelming to find the perfect fabric. I do hourly consults all the time where the goal is simply fabric selections for a room. It’s well worth the time you will save on all that searching! I can even help get pillows or window treatments fabricated for you! If you are interested reach out to me via email camila@effortless-style.com. I swear we will have a lot of fun!
